If you are running Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2008R2 or SQL Server 2008/2008R2, now might be a good time to start planning upgrades to these products due to their impending End of Life dates.  According to the Microsoft website:

Prepare for Windows Server 2008 end of support

On January 14, 2020, support for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 will end. That means the end of regular security updates. Don’t let your infrastructure and applications go unprotected. We’re here to help you migrate to current versions for greater security, performance, and innovation.

Prepare for SQL Server 2008 end of support

On July 9, 2019, support for SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 will end. That means the end of regular security updates. Don’t let your infrastructure and applications go unprotected. We’re here to help you migrate to current versions for greater security, performance, and innovation.

This means that starting in July of this year no new security updates will be released for SQL Server 2008 or 2008R2 and starting in January of next year, no new security updates will be released for Windows Server 2008 or 2008R2.

Risks of Not Upgrading

No security updates.

There will be no access to security updates which opens the potential for data breaches and business interruptions.

Higher maintenance costs.

Maintaining legacy servers, firewalls, intrusion systems, etc., without technical support from Microsoft will get expensive very quickly.

Given the state of malware and nefarious exploits found on the internet these days, it is wise to begin planning your migration and upgrade to the currently supported versions of these two Microsoft products sooner than later.
